Syrian Modern Cables (S.M.C) company was created in 1994 by Mr. Zouheir Ghreiwati and sons and established in the industrial area of Adra, 25 km from Damascus (capital of Syria).

The company was formed during the Syrian industrial development boom, and within two years the company erected a 10,000 square metre building installed with the most up-to-date machines, testing equipment, laboratories for quality control and started production of the most advanced cables according to IEC Specification and European CENELEC.

Initially cable production was in low voltage, power, control, telephone, coaxial cables and overhead transmission lines conductors. S.M.C. used the highest quality raw materials: copper aluminium rod, PVC, PE, XLPE, armouring materials supplied by the best international producers.

Due to the quality of cables produced and experience of S.M.C shareholders in trading, the company in a very short space of time became the leader in the local Syrian market place. Within two years SMC were exporting all types of cables up to 100 kV to the Middle East, Europe and Africa.

Expansion of the company in the late 1990’s, with additional factories allowed SMC to increase production and capabilities in the field of high technology cables, long distance communication, data transmission, as well as medium voltage and high voltage cables.

S.M.C continuous development for top quality manufacturing has meant the company continues to purchase the latest in advanced technology machinery equipped, which has led to a higher productivity and improved manufacturing conditions.

One such machine S.M.C acquired was a continuous vulcanization (CDCC) NOKIA MAILLFER catenary line, equipped with the most sophisticated automatic control instrumentation and famous triple head for simultaneous extrusion of the inner semicon layer, XLPE insulation and outer semi-conductive layer.

Our company is equipped with a high voltage laboratory from Swiss Haefely Trench Company, who have provided us with the most up to date testing instrumentation for type and routine tests assuring we produce the highest quality cables conforming to all international standards (IEC, BS, VDE, NF) and any other customer request. We are more that happy to carry out tests on any of our products to ensure they meet standards set by any Independent, National and International Institutes.

Our quality assurance program and organization ISO 9001 has been certified by SGS (United Kingdom), and quality BASEC (British Approval Service for Cables) certificate, and KEMA certificate (Holland), confirming the high performance we apply for manufacturing, testing, marketing and selling of all our products.
